What do witnesses do?
This role is all about acting! As a witness, you read an affidavit or deposition containing all of the information for your character. You work with your attorney to create a direct examination, adding spice and fun so that judges love you and want to listen to what you have to say. Basically, you're the most engaging part of the trial (sorry attorneys). You also prepare to be cross examined by the other team we are competing against. This essentially entails knowing your character very well and being able to improvise on your feet during trial. Witnesses need to know some aspects of law to the extent that it affects what they can and cannot do, but you pick it up very fast. We are looking for people who can work with a team, like to act or at least are willing to try, have good public speaking skills, and are creative! You get to shape your character into being what you want it to be, so we want people with unique ideas on how to portray a witness.
